So now I am a food critic

You Must Try True Thai!

Upon entering the restaurant we were impressed by the authentic Thai furniture, knick-knacks, and photographs. But that can be seen at most Thai restaurants, the true test was yet to come.

It was very busy that Saturday night, one can see why reservations are needed. Yet through all it's 'busy-ness', there was not a sense of rush or crowd. The ambience was very inviting, and only prepared us for what was to follow.

Our experience to Thai food heaven started out with the Spring Rolls and deep fried Shrimp Wraps. The vegetables in the Spring Rolls were fresh and crisp and wrapped in exquisitely thin rice paper. The peanut dipping sauce was delightful. The Shrimp Wraps were crunchy on the outside and the shrimp perfectly tender inside. Dipped in the plum sauce, I thought I was eating desert before dinner. I was told they made the sauces themselves.

My entree was the Chicken Pad Thai, while my dining companion had the Pineapple Curry. I had a taste of the Pineapple Curry, which she enjoyed greatly, stating that the flavor was perfect, but found it too hot for me. But that is a matter of personal preference, and as curry goes, I am rather a wimp. My companion though swears that the flavor was wonderfully nuanced with many spices that set it apart for her from other curry dishes she has enjoyed. Once again, we were told that they made the curry themselves.

As for the Pad Thai, it is my opinion that no other local restaurant (of the several I have visited) makes better or as good. It leaves the competition in the dust! My whole face relaxed in pleasure as soon as the noodles entered my mouth. The Pad Thai, hands down, is the best I have ever tasted.

Our experience was topped off with the Sticky Rice with Mangoes in Coconut Cream. What a sweet delight! Take it home with you if you are too full for desert.

The service was very good, and the price incredibly reasonable. It is no wonder they do such a great take-out business also. Since my dining experience, I have taken out twice, and observed many others doing so also.

I have not yet had the pleasure of visiting Thailand, but if I do, I have no doubt that I will find the food at True Thai to be very authentic. This is not surprising as I understand the proprietor is from Thailand, and is very active in overseeing what goes on in her kitchen.

The only thing I did not care for was the lack of parking. But it is a city restaurant, and very easily found, located on a corner.
