A Gift Crate for the College-bound Daughter

In one plastic crate box (black will blend in with any dorm decor) put

  • Padded hangers
  • Bag of odor absorbing volcano rock
  • Clorax wet wipes to keep the dorm fridge clean
  • Swiffer dry cloths
  • Small decorative square box of kleenex tissues
  • 'Bed Pocket' (a cloth with pockets to hold misc items, to hang over the side of a bed)
  • Those new disposable teeth wipes
  • Sparkling cider
  • Bottle of blowing bubbles
  • Febreze
  • Scented drawer liners
  • Can of chicken noodle soup
  • Sewing kit
  • Tote umbrella
  • Book lite
  • Easy Mac
  • Paper towel roll
  • Rowenta travel clothes steamer/presser (if she did not already get one for her birthday)
  • Can opener
  • Travel size q-tips
  • Stamps and envelopes
  • Small pencil sharpener
  • Favorite candy (Skittles, Watchamacallit)
  • Batteries AA and AAA
  • Nite-time eye mask
  • Static-guard spray
  • Bandaids and triple antibiotic ointment
  • Favorite snacks (Goldfish crackers, Slim Jim)
  • Cedar hanger 'donuts' (circles made out of cedarwood with holes in the middle to hang around clothes hangers
  • Box of plastic spoons, forks, and knifes
  • Spray-n-Wash
  • Poster tack adhesive
  • Juice boxes
  • Sleep sound machine w/pillow speaker
  • Baggy of rubber bands and paperclips
  • Baggy of baggies
  • Lint Pick-up Roller
  • Altoids and/or mint gum
  • Plastic microwave pan
  • Small travel size wet wipe pack
  • Wet/Dry dustvac
  • Toolkit
  • Collection of nails, screws, and cuphooks in a plastic tray container
  • Extra VERY LOUD alarm clock, battery operated
  • Pepperidge Farm cookies
  • Gel eye mask to put in fridge
  • Extra socks for that first month of college life. She will be too busy to do laundry.
  • and a little note asking her to make sure she calls you everynight for the first week or two. For though you recognize she is old enough and responsible enough to live on her own now, it would be nice for her to help you transition into living without her.
